Interesting insights were obtained while “Insights Data Analysis Team” was exploring the Arab Barometer Data that got collected from six Arab countries covering several political and social issues. The team explored the bivariate relationship between the belief of Arabs of “Men being better in political leadership than women” and gender.
The interesting result extracted from the survey data showed that a relatively large percentage of women (39%) “strongly agreed” or “agreed” with the statement saying: “In general, men are better in political leadership than women”. This survey was conducted by the Arab Barometer organization in six Arab countries, Algeria, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, and Tunisia using a probability sample of 5729 respondents. This result could be of interest for policy makers, organizations working on women empowerment in the Arab region. It would be interesting to know what would be the percentage of women supporting such statement in other parts of the world, such as Asia, Russia, US, and Europe.
